Fulfilment Manager

bloomon is turning the flower industry on its head – for the better. How? By disrupting the traditional supply chain!  We skip the auction and wholesale, to shorten the journey for our flowers.  And we harness technology, brand and innovation to deliver gifts and subscriptions that delight our customers across Europe.
We launched in Amsterdam in 2014, and in 2021 joined forces with Bloom & Wild, the UK’s fastest growing ecommerce company (according to the Financial Times).  Our group is backed by top tier investors and is now home to a family of 3 strong brands, Bloom & Wild, bloomon and Bergamotte.  Together, we’ve delivered over 20 million orders (and counting!), making us the largest direct to consumer flower business in Europe.
Our vision is to create the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful. And we won’t stop at flowers and plants. Starting with the Bloom & Wild brand, we’re expanding our gifting offering to other categories like cakes, candles and cocktails. This is all part of our ambition to build Europe’s #1 direct to consumer gifting destination.
🛠️ Operations at Bloom & Wild
The Operations team at bloomon and Bloom & Wild is split into three sub-teams, although in practice there is a close collaboration between all these sub-teams on a daily basis:
– Flower sourcing, styling, and quality – this team is responsible for purchasing our fresh products like flowers and plants, mainly through direct collaboration with growers around the world. They also manage our inbound supply chain and work closely with our flower supply chain partners to optimise quality and costs. Within our own and 3rd party warehouses, they monitor and optimise for styling and quality.
– Warehouse Operations – Across our 3 strong brands we have various warehouses across the EU. The teams based at these sites run our daily production and fulfilment operation of all products we sell. The non-horti procurement of add-ons and packaging items is also part of the scope of this team. They optimise for customer satisfaction, On Time-In Full fulfilment, quality and associated COGS.
– Logistics & 3rd party fulfilment – managing our partially outsourced sourcing, production, and fulfilment in the UK and optimising our delivery organisation in all countries we are active in. The team works closely with our carrier partners (and coordinating our own delivery network) to achieve operational excellence and optimise for customer satisfaction, delivery performance, capacity and associated COGS.
The fulfilment team of our Amstelveen warehouse is responsible for the daily fulfilment of thousands of orders. Our product range is rapidly expanding with more bouquets, gifts, plants and related products, and with this the complexity of our fulfilment operation is also growing. By using our in-house developed tools and software we’re continuously improving the quality and efficiency of our operation. As fulfilment manager you’re responsible for the daily fulfilment shift and to ensure the team is performing to its full potential.
  • Responsible for managing the fulfilment team of the Amstelveen location (HR + daily operations) (approximately 15 fte, and growing)
  • Ensure all orders are fulfilled with great care, efficient and in time
  • Overall responsible for complete and timely stock management for fulfilment items in the Warehouse Management System
  • Regular stock count and support with procurement inquiries
  • Implementation of innovations and continuous improvement of fulfilment process together with the team and your manager
  • Support expedition team where needed (outbound transport)
  • Planning of activities and people/shifts
  • Contact with agencies on planning and agency worker performance
  • Backup for production manager and part of the warehouse management team.

Wat wij vragen

  • 3+ years of experience in (fulfilment) operations
  • Proven leadership skills (managing a team/shift)
  • Proficient in English (both verbally and written)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Brings structure with attention to detail
  • Flexible with working hours
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and have a talent for organising
  • Proactive mindset
  • Digitally proficient with strong IT skills.
  • Dutch/Polish language skills
  • Experience working with WMS/ERP software
